To see the magnificent dawn over Mount Annapurna in the early morning, look up at the top of the mountainside. located at a 3210-meter elevation. A vantage point is said to offer spectacular views of the adjacent mountains, peaks, daybreak, and dusk. The Poon Hill Trek is the ideal option for adventurous tourists and those in medium physical condition, but it also offers significant advantages to seasoned visitors. The tour provides the best interactions for visitors and serves as the best representation of travel in Nepal.
The hike is unquestionably one of the most popular excursions in Nepal because of the social and cultural setting, as well as the stunning views it offers of the superb natural beauty and vast terrain of the Annapurna ranges. The popularity of the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is growing every day. It is true that what makes it so popular are the stunning vistas of Annapurna that visitors get to experience from a different angle, as well as the natural habitat and scenery while traveling.
The hike is also fairly priced and maybe the easiest in the Annapurna region. Anyone who frequently appreciates learning about the beauty of fusing cultural and natural heritage, as well as the stunning snow-capped Annapurna range, may find the excursion to be appropriate. It is suggested for those who don't have long holidays for an extreme trek.
The hike will take you past stunning alpine scenery and quaint Gurung and Magar towns. Every turn in the trail will provide you with a breathtaking view of the high mountains, and as you get closer to the highest points of your journey, entire horizons will start to open up. What makes the journey so well-liked is the breathtaking view of the mountain ranges and the sunrise from Poonhill (3210m).
While Pokhara, the city of lakes, has also been influenced by Western culture, the typical Gurung and Magar culture will be fascinating during the trek to Poon Hill. You can also ask for a dress with people to experience the culture and get some good photos with specific costumes. Kathmandu, the starting point of the trek, offers you fancy adopted Western culture and you can stroll around the Thamel area and drive Kathmandu to Pokhara.
Your journey is made more enjoyable by vast rhododendron forests filled with birds and beautiful vistas. Views of the mountain ranges of Barasikhar, Hiunchuli, Nilgiri, Manaslu, Mount Dhaulagiri, Gangapurna, Tukuche Peak, Mount Annapurna I, Mount Annapurna South, Mount Annapurna II, III, and IV will be visible from this hike.
As we watch the sunlight kiss the snow-capped summits from Poon Hill, the Himalayan peaks Dhaulagiri (8,167m) and Annapurna (8,091m), as well as a tangle of other mountains, gradually begin to appear in our line of sight. This amazing experience will never be forgotten by anyone who loves the outdoors and beautiful scenery.
The Ghorepani Poon Hill walk is an excellent option if you only have a short amount of time in Nepal but would still like to see the renowned Alpine Mountains and learn more about Nepalese highland culture.
Many of the nation's customs, cultures, and civilizations are found in the little villages that make up the mountain slopes, where the vast majority of the people reside. This trek is on one of Nepal's easier trails, making it perfect for families and novice hikers wishing to discover Spectacular vistas of storied mountains while staying in comfortable lodging and eating healthily along the trail.
It's a pretty easy and short trek from Pokhara, and since the designated starting point is only a 1.5-hour drive from Pokhara's lakeside, it's a great way to experience Nepal's trekking culture without committing to the more difficult and time-consuming routes.
Poonhill is a lovely lookout spot close to Ghorepani. It's also a fantastic spot to view the dawn and sunset over the magnificent Dhaulagiri and Annapurna ridges. It is without a doubt the region of the walk that is both the most well-known and unmatched. You will also visit the picturesque Gurung village of Ghandruk, which offers breathtaking views of the Annapurna Massif in the distance.
Poon Hill Trek is the best short trek in Nepal if you want to experience the natural trail and scenic mountain views; however, if you want to experience the highlands of Nepal, there are many different trekking options available, including Everest Base Camp and the Annapurna Circuit Trek with peak-climbing opportunities.
The Poon Hill Trek is a well-traveled path that can be challenging and rough in some spots. Over the course of the week, there are also a number of stairs to climb and descend. Hikers who can travel 4 to 5 hours each day at a moderate pace while carrying a small bag should be able to complete this excursion. There may be times when you need to stay up for longer. If you've done a few climbs and treks before, you can finish the trek without much difficulty.
Prior to your trek, practice a 2 to 3 km daily walk, engage in some cardiovascular exercise like yoga, cycling, and swimming, and get some exercise. Although Poon Hill is not a particularly high-altitude trek, we have seen some cases of altitude sickness. You may make this walk easier and more pleasant by gaining some height and preparing in advance because you never know what will happen.
Travellers can expect some light physical activities.
Narayan Baniya (nature pathfinder) and Sumir Gyawali (yoga teacher) guide me in this adventure. Actually they manage perfectly my short time and all the noisy burocratic thinks like documents or Covid control. They makes me feel safely and had care of me since the moment I reserved .. now I’m at home and still feel the power of their experience, friendship and good nature. They makes me “enter” in the Nepali lifestyle, from metropolitan Kathmandu until the top of the mountain were the vibes are soo deep. Their good vibes are compatible with all, Sumir had a clinical yogi eye and Narayan the calm you need to arrive over the clouds.. it was like a day dreaming and I never forget this experience out of time. Thank you Antonio
A great & well organised experience. I highly recommend Himalayan recreation to anyone planning to trek to the Annapurna Basecamp. Everything from start to finish was all taken care of, taking away all of the stress of organisation so that I could focus on enjoying the trek. Ashok was very responsive on whatsapp at all times and was able to adapt the tour when circumstances changed. For example, when my flight to Pokhara was cancelled, Ashok arranged for a friendly driver to take me all the way there by private car instead (I did have to wait 1.5 hours for the driver, but traffic in Kathmandu is difficult). My guide Santosh and porter Bal were very friendly and accommodating and were good company during the trek. They have the English skills required to answer the majority of questions, particularly relating to the trek. Overall, a very good experience. The trek itself is very beautiful. It has everything, including rural villages with rice terraces, bamboo forests, and epic mountains. The accommodation is basic but everything you need for a trek (much better than camping). The weather forecast is inaccurate - I enjoyed decent weather despite the forecast being constant rain/thunder. I found the difficulty to be much easier than others state, and could have completed the trek in 5-6 days. Almost anyone with a decent level of fitness would be able to complete this trek (adjusting the duration to accommodate).
The Annupurna Poon Hill Trip is a lovely trek through the lower elevations of the Annupurna range of the Himalayas. Starting from Pokhara, a 90 minute drive in a taxi drops us off at the beginning of the trek and then goes up from there. My guide, Raj, was absolutely awesome and provided a lot of great information about the area during our trek over the several days that this trek takes place. The second day of the climb takes us to the small town of Ghorepani, and then an early climb the next morning to Poon Hill. I went on this trip in the 2nd year of the virus. According to my guide, the number of travelers was still way down from pre-pandemic years. So, in one way, it is a great time to travel since you will have most of the trails to yourself. The tea houses are also pretty empty. The negative side to this is that there are limited menu items and several places didn't have WiFi. There are a few recommendations I would make about this trip. The first is the ride from Kathmandu to Pokhara. I took the bus and regretted it about halfway there. While the distance is only 200 km, it took about 8 hours on the bus. If I were to do this again, I would have opted for a 30 minute flight. It costs more, but is so worth it. Second, make sure you bring toilet paper with you on the trek. The tea houses I stayed in during my trek didn't have any. So, bringing a roll of your own is a huge help. And speaking of bathrooms, most of the toilets along the route are not the western style sit-down toilets. Rather they are the hole in the grounds. So, make sure to use the bathroom before leaving the tea house since the next western-style toilet isn't until the next guest house, which could be a half day hike away. Finally, if you have time after the trek, spend an extra day in Pokhara. It is much more interesting than Kathmandu. Otherwise, the trek was wonderful and the folks at Himalayan Recreation did a great job in staying in touch, picking me up at the airport when I arrived in Nepal, and provided excellent service all the way through.
This trip was the first we took with those guys. It was very nice, guide was interesting and gave us a lot information about Bhaktapur and Nepal itself. After they arranged few more trips for us. First was Chitwan national park and jeep safari. After Pokhara and paragliding. And then return to Kathmandu. It was very helpful to have someone local there who can arrange flights, pick ups, all the activities and return wherever needed. We didn't have more time, but all the time we had, they managed to organize for us, without stressing or worrying. I truly recommend them, because they are very responsible and helpful for any situation. I firstly met them in Kathmandu for our first trip and they helped us with all the others.
After breakfast in the morning, you will drive to the starting point of Trek called Nayapul, 1-1.5 hrs from
Pokhara. from here you will directly start doing trek up and up to Ulleri. Distance from Nayapul to Ulleri is 12
km which can be done within 3-4 hrs trek. On the outskirts of Nayapul a large sign welcomed us to the
Annapurna Conservation Area. It asked us to trek gently, to not disturb wildlife, to carry out what we carry in,
and to avoid using pollutants – like detergent. We crossed a couple of steel bridges and reached Birethanti,
and our first TIMS (Trekkers’ Information Management System) checkpoint. Our Guide will take care of you
and all stuffs about the the checkpoint and paperwork at this stage. Here the road forks, to the right – the
shortest route to Annapurna Base Camp, and the Poon Hill circuit anti-clockwise. We’d go left – a quicker
route to Poon Hill, doing the route clockwise and taking on the dreaded steps of Ulleri.Overnite in Ulleri
